About this event

Make sure to join Third Act’s monthly all-in event with special guests, music, and movement highlights. We’ll share campaign updates, what’s up next, and how you can plug in over the coming weeks.

This month Third Actors are joined by Ronnie Cohen, Executive Director of Activate America, a key partner in mobilizing for the midterms who will share evidence about why postcarding, phone banking, and other Get Out the Vote volunteer efforts are effective and necessary. You will also hear about lots of opportunities to get involved with GOTV and election protection work – to secure those votes you worked so hard to inspire – with partners like Common Cause and Power the Polls. And examples of state and local election work.

You’ll learn from our Supporter Spotlight on Pat Ferris and Goli Sahba from Sacramento, who have been spearheading bank manager meetings, organizing rallies at bank branches, and supporting other Third Act Working Groups to contribute to the Banking on our Future campaign.

And you’ll get the latest from our organizing and campaign teams about upcoming actions you can take in October. You do not want to miss this!

Ronnie Cohen is the Executive Director of Activate America (formerly Flip the West and Flip the 14), and has played a variety of roles in the organization since its founding in 2017.

Activate America is an independent expenditure organization focused on electing Democrats to the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. The larger our majority, the more we can make meaningful and lasting change possible for our country.

Activate America coordinates with local, statewide, and national organizations to mobilize volunteers where they can do the most good. They provide postcarding, phone banking, texting, and canvassing programs to reach voters and help to hold seats Democrats narrowly won and flip seats narrowly lost.

From 2017 through the 2020 election, Activate America has built a nationwide network of tens of thousands of volunteers and more than 250 organization partners, and has made more than 13 million voter contacts in key states. Through this work, our volunteers were active in all 4 successful Democratic Senate “flips”, helping secure the Democratic Senate majority and also helping retain the Democratic edge in several close House races.

Every step of the way, we helped blue wave organizations looking to get involved where it matters most, organizing and amplifying volunteer opportunities to reach the voters Democrats needed to win.

Prior to Activate America, Ronnie worked on environmental policy for over 20 years. She was Director of Water Efficiency with the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), where she advocated for reform of western water policies, with a focus on promoting water use efficiency and ecosystem restoration.

Ronnie holds a BA in Environmental Studies from Brown University and received her Master’s degree in Public Policy from the University of California at Berkeley.
