Join Public Citizen, the Third Act Lawyers Working Group, the NAACP, Memphis Community Against Pollution, Citizens Action Coalition, and Young, Gifted and Green for a webinar about the dark side of Big Tech’s data-center boom.
About this event
As tech giants race to build massive data centers to power artificial intelligence, communities are paying the price: rising electricity costs, unchecked fossil fuel development, more pollution, threats to local water supplies, and backroom deals that leave the public in the dark. All this while warning signs mount that we may be in the midst of a speculative AI bubble on the verge of collapse.
This webinar will bring together advocates and experts to discuss the harms already unfolding, the urgent need for stronger public oversight, and the successes and set-backs encountered so far. Speakers include:
- Tyson Slocum, Public Citizen
- Abre Connor, NAACP
- KeShaun Pearson, Memphis Citizens Against Pollution
- LaTricea Adams, Young, Gifted and Green
- Ben Inskeep, Citizens Action Coalition
- Betsy Wilkening, Third Act AZ
- Nancy LaPlaca, Third Act Consultant
Note: when you register, you’ll receive an email from Public Citizen– not Third Act – with your attendance link.
