Write a Letter to the Editor: Oppose Trump’s Military Escalations Against Americans

Make your voice impossible to ignore—tell local editors that Third Actors are standing up for immigrants, migrants, peaceful protestors, and all Americans being unfairly targeted by the Trump Administration. Everyone needs to say: this is not the America we aspire to be.

Trump’s violent and cruel attacks on immigrants, migrants, and American communities have escalated to attacks on our Constitutional rights of freedom of speech, peaceful protest, and due process, and deploying the military against Americans. 

We launched the Legacy Project as a way for you to vocalize your opposition to this authoritarian regime. The Trump Administration has declared war on the American people and our communities. While American communities rally to protect their neighbors and families, the Administration has stepped up brazen and violent attacks, focused on the city of Los Angeles. The brutal assault on peaceful residents of Los Angeles has reminded many of events from Kent State and Jackson State in 1970, when another divisive President pushed our democracy and Constitution to the brink and further divided our nation.

Now more than ever, on behalf of all American communities, we have to stand up for the right to peacefully protest the dubious and damaging actions of the Trump Administration and stand with those currently under assault in Los Angeles and across the country. We know this Administration will stop at nothing to keep dividing us from our friends, neighbors, and families, and we can not let that happen. We must stick together. 

These lawless attacks, just like the lawless deportations, arrests, and visa revocations that have preceded them, violate many rights, are without due process, and seek to upend the Constitutional right to assembly and speak out against the actions of this government. Furthermore, deploying the National Guard and Marines against Americans without the consent of the Governor is unlawful. 

Through the end of June, we’re calling on you to write more letters to your local editors telling them that we demand that Trump stop these unlawful and deeply damaging attacks on American communities. 

Stand up for America’s democratic values, the rule of law, freedom of speech, the right to peaceful protest, and the safety of our communities!
