We are Third Act - Upstate New York! We are everyday people from upstate New York who are 60+ (we don’t check IDs! ) from different backgrounds, faiths, and cultures. We are coming together to “make good trouble”, with the goal of creating a healthy, sustainable, fair, and equitable future for our children and our children’s children.

We are forming a regional Upstate New York Working Group of the nation-wide Third Act organization, and we are just getting going. Together we will align our efforts with the national organization, while defining our unique local and regional agenda. With broad strokes, our Working Group has outlined three areas or “clusters” that reflect Third Act’s national agenda, and which we will flesh out specifically to the needs of upstate New York:

1) Fossil Free Financing:  Pressure large banks and institutions to stop financing climate chaos through funding the fossil fuel industry.

2) Democratizing Energy: Explore strategies for making New York State’s energy policies quickly transition to renewable energies with pricing and availability that is fair, reasonable, and affordable to all.  This focus will involve educating ourselves on NY State’s Public Service Commission’s policies and sharing our understanding with the community.

3) Uplifting Voting and Democracy: Keep our elections free, fair, and open to all voters.

Underlying all three clusters will be community outreach and consumer education.

We need you! Please bring your talents, skills, experience, resources, and passion to help us plan where to go from here. If you wish to be part of shaping our focus and agenda for action, join our new Working Group for Third Act – Upstate New York by  signing up now! Choose your own level of engagement. There are no membership fees or dues.

Joining a group is good medicine.

No time to waste – let’s get going! The time is now!
