Third Act Massachusetts is ramping up to be a dynamic force in the great state of Massachusetts. Join elders across the Commonwealth who are motivated to explore how their individual and collective actions can help stabilize the climate and restore and protect our democracy.

Derived from the Algonquin word “Massadchu-es-et” meaning “small place-great hill.” This small but mighty state hopes to make a great impact on protecting Mother Earth and strengthening our democracy.

Each day, 10,000 people in the US pass the 60-year mark. We invite you to join us as we create a bold and joyful community of experienced and concerned people to speak with a clear, powerful voice. As people, parents, grandparents and great-grandparents, we are determined to bring our life experiences, skills and resources together to change the world for the better. All are needed and welcome!

Working with guidance and support from Third Act Central, we are focused on creating a sustainable future for all by:

  • Supporting Third Act national initiatives, such as actions focused on defunding climate destruction and pressuring the Big Four Banks to stop greenwashing and fossil fuel investing.
  • Joining locally with mission-aligned organizations working on climate and democracy issues
  • Building our local Third Act community and organizing projects of our own, including letter-writing campaigns
  • Collaborating with our new Governor and recently appointed Climate Chief, Melissa Hoffer, as they work to incorporate climate change into all decision-making, including transportation, infrastructure, housing and clean energy. (Massachusetts is first in the nation to have a Climate Chief as a Cabinet position)
  • Helping make Massachusetts a worldwide hub for climate change by drawing on the deep science & technology expertise located here.
