New Program to Help El Paso Homeowners Go Solar, Lower Energy Bills

Switch Together is a group buying program that helps participants learn about and save on solar installs, home batteries, and electric vehicle chargers

JUNE 22, 2026 — Today, the City of El Paso announced the launch of Switch Together, a group buying program for solar installations. Switch Together uses a group buying model to help residents save money on home solar installations. The most recent auction secured a discount of 23%, which translates to an average discount of $6,748.

The program is supported in partnership with nonprofit Solar United Neighbors. Switch Together makes rooftop solar installations more affordable, while also offering solar education through online resources and in-person events. To date, households purchased a solar installation through Switch Together.

If ever you’ve thought about going solar, now’s your chance,” said Sam Silerio, Solar United Neighbors Texas Program Director. “Switch Together helps you learn if going solar is right for you. You’ll have expert guidance through every step of the process.”

How Switch Together works

The program organizes a reverse auction with qualified installers who compete to offer their most competitive prices. This ensures participants receive a discount on a high-quality solar installation. In addition to the group discount, residents may qualify for additional incentives. The Switch Together program provides an excellent opportunity for residents to switch to solar energy.
