“TVA, Pass on Gas!” Action

Join Third Act in demonstrating outside the TN Valley Authority’s  (TVA’s) public“Listening Session” in Nashville, demanding that TVA transition to generating power from renewable sources.  Climate advocates are testifying at the Listening Session, but we also want a crowd outside bringing people power for clean energy. Bring signs, and get ready to chant! Third Actors are also going to show up with walkers to emphasize that those of us over 60 are ready to be on the front lines for climate and democracy!

It’s a crucial time to get involved because currently TVA is engaged in a long term planning process. Sadly, their plans include a massive  expansion of  its use of natural gas, dooming its customers (Us!) to decades of paying for power generated from fossil fuels. TVA’s leadership is ignoring warnings from Congress, the EPA and climate justice advocates, and defying national carbon-reduction goals to invest taxpayers’ money in dangerous and expensive Natural Gas plants and pipelines. This is irresponsible and on May 8 we can speak up about it!

Ideas for signs: TVA: Pass on Gas, Fossil Free Future, TVA: Clean Up Your Act! If you can’t make a sign, come anyway—-we need YOU more than a sign!

This action takes place just before the Rally for the Valley at Centennial Park.
