Sun Day
Sun Day is a day of action on September 21, 2025, celebrating solar and wind power, and the movement to leave fossil fuels behind. Solar energy is now the cheapest source of power on the planet – and gives us a chance to actually do something about the climate crisis. But fossil fuel billionaires are doing everything they can to shut it down. We will build, rally, sing, and come together in the communities that we need to get laws changed and work done.

FAQ
Sun Day is a day of action to celebrate the power of clean energy and stand up to the billionaires trying to stop it. On September 21st, people everywhere will be showcasing solar installations, electric homes and vehicles running on clean power. By organizing thousands of events on the fall Equinox, Sun Day will help accelerate the ongoing clean energy revolution: we have the technology and the solutions, all we need is to build the political will to scale-up and accelerate clean energy and make it accessible to all.
Sun Day is organized by a coalition of grassroots organizations, clean energy experts, solar industry and worker organizations, schools, affordable housing, farmers, and creative partners. Third Act is one of these many participating organizations and many of our volunteers and Working Groups across the country are taking part.
Third Act is one of the participating organizations. We have volunteers and local volunteer-led working groups across the country who will be hosting events and activities. This page shows all of the Sun Day activity organized by Third Act Working Groups, volunteer-led cohorts organized by location and affinity. This is only a fraction of what’s going on for Sun Day, so you can also check out what’s being organized by our coalition partners here.
If there is a working group in your state, the best way to get involved in Sun Day and other good trouble at Third Act is to join your local working group. If there’s not a Working group in your location, don’t worry! There still may be Sun Day events organized by other partners and volunteers in your area, or you can sign up to host your own! Check out all of the events listed here and head to sunday.earth for even more information.
We need Sun Day to show decision makers and thought leaders of all kinds – local, state, and federal elected officials, business leaders, civic leaders, labor unions – that Americans of all walks of life, and all incomes want affordable, reliable clean energy for all. We want the policy reforms and investments to accelerate and scale-up the clean energy transition. We are the majority and we want a clean and healthy future for ourselves and coming generations.
