Sun Day: A national day of action for clean energy

Sun Day is a day of action on September 21, 2025, celebrating solar and wind power, and the movement to leave fossil fuels behind. Hundreds of festive events are planned across the country to acknowledge solar energy is now the cheapest source of power on the planet – and gives us a chance to actually do something about the climate crisis. Fossil fuel billionaires are doing everything they can to shut down our access to clean energy. We will build, rally, sing, and come together in the communities that we need to get laws changed and work done to power up this Sun Power Revolution.

In Oregon, we are plugging into Sun Day in a big way, with numerous, family friendly events across the state. Join us in Eugene, Corvallis, or Portland. See more details below.

To support the Sun Power Revolution, we’re planning to come together around our shared value of Oregon’s natural beauty and outdoor recreational opportunities.

We are committed to:

raising broader public awareness about the affordable clean energy solutions available now, and
the need for a more rapid transition to clean energy which will provide more jobs and a more stable economy demonstrating growing support for a more safe and equitable energy future for all Oregonians.

Together with over EIGHTY community and organization partners, festive Sun Day events across Oregon will inform, engage and inspire attendees on the various ways you can take part in the Sun Power Revolution.

If you live in or near Ashland, Bend, Corvallis, Eugene, or Portland, we have events for you!

Corvallis at Central Park from 11am to 3pm
A family event full of live music, cooking demonstrations, a classroom for Solar Stories and art for kids, educational signage and video throughout the park. Over 23 vendors and participating partners.

Eugene at the Campbell Center from noon to 3pm
The theme for this event is “Teach In, Act Out!” – combining music and art, with impactful speakers (with multiple Teach-In sessions covering a wide array of solar and energy topics (residential and commercial). Family friendly, informative displays.

Portland at Tom McCall Park along the Waterfront, from noon to 6pm
Rise Up for Oregon’s Sun Powered Future at Sun Day PDX. Experience the Portland Waterfront transformed into a celebration of clean energy, with powerful speakers, a Bridge Parade, a celebration of music and art, and a chance to learn more about how everyone can contribute to the Sun Power Revolution.

New events added:

Ashland at Lithia Park, starting at 2:00 pm
Ashland area Third Act members and volunteers look forward to seeing you all there! They’ll have some buttons and flowers they will hand out. If you’d like to bring signs or banners, that’d be great!

Bend at Drake Park, starting at 1:00 pm
350Deschutes is hosting a ‘Sun Day Solar Fest’, along with Third Act Oregon volunteers from the Bend area. This event is going to be casual, fun, creative, and family friendly—a space where all community members can learn about solar energy, how to get involved in local action, while also learning from local individuals and organizations. Join us in Bend for Sun Day, celebrating the unstoppable rise of clean energy!
