Oregon seeks to join other states – including Montana and Pennsylvania – that have constitutional amendments that enshrine the right to a healthy environment in the state constitution. Other states have proposed similar legislation.
Several key factors went into the decision by the Oregon Coalition for an Environmental Rights Amendment (OCERA) to reset petition operations from 2026 to 2028. OCERA’s efforts will not be slowing down. It will focus on three things: (1) securing a better ballot title (the one drafted by the Attorney General this summer was flawed), (2) raising funds for a robust campaign, and (3) connecting with supporters and partners across the state.
These efforts will set the stage for success in 2028.
Third Act Oregon supports OCERA’s efforts for a constitutional amendment for the right to a healthy environment. We will be participating in OCERA’s working groups, reaching out to communities across the state to raise awareness of and mobilize support for the amendment.
If you would like to help – or would just like to know more about the constitutional amendment, let us know! Contact us at Third Act Oregon oregon@thirdact.org, or you can reach OCERA directly at team@oceraunited.org.
