The Twin Cities Sun Day Festival on September 21st was a rousing success. Nearly 500 Minnesotans of all ages celebrated the power of the sun, took action to advance the clean energy revolution and walked away equipped to do even more.
We joined with over 450 similar actions in 48 states to send a message that the people are ready to make sure the momentum on solar and wind continues, despite federal policy changes.
We engaged in visual and performing arts to lift our spirits and energize us for the work ahead.
We strengthened relations with clean energy organizations. This included the other groups hosting along with Spill Paint, Not Oil and the 20 organizations who showed up to talk to participants about how they can make a difference,
We signed petitions to our state and local governments to erase barriers to fully implementing the potential of clean energy and to require full environmental reviews of data centers before state and local permits are granted.
We lifted up the real possibility that we can shape our energy future. As one participant said: “It gives me hope for what we can do together to combat climate change.”
It’s only by coming together and taking action that we can overcome challenges presented by climate change. Sun Day was an important moment to reenergize and recommit individually and collectively to protecting life on this planet.
