Summer is winding down, which means election season is ramping up. We are less than 100 days until the midterm election, which is our best chance to flip the Georgia Legislature.
It’s time to organize beyond protests and marches. We need to educate ourselves and our communities about the threats to our rights and our freedoms here in GA and prepare our neighbors and friends to vote.
There are several voter mobilization tools available and you should take advantage of them – we need to reach as many voters as possible.
Neighbor2Neighbor (N2N)
N2N is a program designed to make talking to your neighbors about the election simple. Sign up and we will send you a list of names and addresses for 10 like-minded neighbors. We provide the script and a leave behind. All you have to do is knock on the door. Hearing from a trusted neighbor is twice as effective as hearing from a stranger. Go out and make friends, encourage them to vote, and tell them what’s at stake. Sign up today.
TurboVote
TurboVote is a comprehensive voting hub that helps voters participate in every el
ection. When voters sign up, they are provided information on upcoming elections, important dates, voter ID rules, registration status, and personalized sample ballots. Sign up and encourage your friends and family to sign up as well.
Election Defense Corps
Counter any potential election sabotage by joining our program to organize on the ground, talk to voters, establish and train the Election Defense Corps, and build the infrastructure for a massive get out the vote (GOTV) push. We are building the grassroots network ready to win key elections and protect all Georgians’ right to vote. Sign the pledge.
Canvassing
Knocking doors is one of the most effective ways to get out the vote. Studies have shown it takes an average of 6 canvassing contacts to result in a vote, compared to 71 postcards. In addition to programs like Neighbor2Neighbor, candidates and local parties are hosting canvass events for candidates up and down the ballot across Georgia. Check out mobilize.us to find events near you.
Phone banking
After canvassing, phone banking is the most successful form of voter mobilization. On average, it takes 36 phone banking contacts to result in a vote, half as many as postcards. Indivisible will be hosting phone banking opportunities for target races, but you can also find these opportunities through the campaigns and local parties in your area on mobilize.us.
3 months may feel like a lot of time but there is one resource you cannot raise during an election, and that’s time. Every day counts and every action matters.
