Joanna Macy’s Work That Reconnects provides powerful processes to transform anger, despair, and overwhelm into inspired collaborative action. Join us in our bi-monthly exploration of the spiral of this work. This month, we will explore practices to expand our perspectives on time in ways that can help us better meet this moment with creativity and equanimity.

Developed by Buddhist activist Joanna Macy, Ph.D., an author and scholar of systems theory and deep ecology, these practices are simple but profound practices to build strength and resilience for our work to heal the world. In each session, we will engage in practices of sharing, listening, and imagining related to one of the stages of the Work that Reconnects, which are designed to build community, help us hold the many emotions related to our work in the world, and give us new sources of support to do that work. Each stage stands alone, so so you do not have to attend every session and can join at any.

Our sessions are led by TAF Coordinating Committee member Martin Wagner, an interfaith eco-chaplain, environmental lawyer, and student of the late Joanna Macy. Read Martin’s tribute to his friend and former teacher, who died in 2025.
