About this event

Join Third Act’s May monthly All-In Call—Climate Justice & Banks on the Run—and hear from Jacqui Patterson about how environmental justice and voting rights are inextricably linked and learn about groundbreaking research by BankFWD that is a gamechanger for getting Big Banks out of the fossil fuel business.

Jacqui Patterson is the Founder and Executive Director of the Chisholm Legacy Project: A Resource Hub for Black Frontline Climate Justice Leadership, whose mission is rooted in a Just Transition Framework, connecting Black communities on the frontlines of climate justice with the resources to actualize their visions. Prior to the launch of the Chisholm Legacy Project, Patterson served as the Senior Director of the NAACP Environmental and Climate Justice Program for over a decade.

Bill McKibben will walk us through the importance of the new analysis from “The Carbon Bankroll: The Climate Impact and Untapped Power of Corporate Cash” and show how the biggest, richest companies in the world – Google, Netflix, Amazon, Microsoft – emit more carbon pollution from the cash they keep in the banking system than from their actual business operations. Join us as we discuss how to leverage this new data to further push Wall Street to stop bankrolling climate destruction.

You will also hear from one of our new working groups, Third Act Educators, who are mobilizing K-12, community college, and university educators to advance our democracy and climate campaigns. We’ll have updates on our Mobilizing for the Midterms efforts and hear progress on Third Actors’ efforts to engage with big banks on climate change. Learn how you can plug in over the coming weeks.

This call runs for an hour, from 5-6pmPT / 8-9pmET. See you there!
