Is your town a solar permitting leader or laggard?
About this event
Join one of our weekly virtual work parties, and learn how you can crowd-source research and meet with local officials to improve solar permitting rules for towns and cities across America!
Come try out our research and action toolkit with the support of the Third Act community! There will be time to ask questions, check in about roadblocks, and learn from peer volunteers.
Together, we’ll gather data and make phone calls about solar rules in our respective towns and cities, to compile a publicly shared, crowd-sourced database of regulations.

Jeremy Friedman, Third Act Campaign Strategist
Jeremy is Campaign Strategist for Third Act, developing the Simplify Solar Campaign and other projects. Across previous roles, Jeremy founded an organization for sustainability in higher education, organized local communities for access to solar financing, and led a grassroots criminal justice reform Political Action Committee that elected anti-carceral DAs.
Jeremy worked as a massage therapist for as many years as they’ve been a community organizer, and has led tactics workshops around the world from Taipei to Black Rock City — now, this somatic, hands-on mentality informs their approach to campaigns. A common thread across Jeremy’s work is the conviction that change is inevitable, generative, and always unfolding at the personal, relational scale of our physical bodies in space.

Nancy LaPlaca, Third Act Energy and Climate Consultant
Nancy has worked in and around politics and public policy for most of her life, with the last 20 years deep in the trenches of electricity. She started this path in 2006, successfully challenging the permit for a so-called “clean” coal plant with carbon sequestration. Nancy worked for two congresspersons, a number of state agencies and state courts, served as a policy advisor to a public utilities commissioner, and worked with many environmental and solar advocates to help end the reign of dirty fossil fuels and usher in the new solar era. Nancy has a law degree and a Bachelor of Fine Arts, and is honored to work with the Third Act team to help elders understand the value of clean energy and take action to make it happen.
