Participants will gain skills in the HOW: how to initially build an online community, how to grow relationships and trust, how to engage and celebrate others, how to move away from text-only use, and how to design engaging online meetings. Are you looking to expand your statewide working group’s online community and integrate more active volunteers? This is especially critical now, as we need to strengthen our online organizing efforts to protect our fragile democracy and planet.
Join this interactive call to learn how to build and grow an engaged online community. We will model and demonstrate effective elements, exploring both the WHY and the HOW of growing online communities. Understand the key differences between organizing face to face vs in online spaces and discover the power of connection in digital spaces. You will hear insights from fellow Third Actors and have ample opportunity to participate in discussions.

lani is a national volunteer from NE Ohio. She supports the Organizing team and has the honor of facilitating Third Act National Volunteers and Third Act Volunteer Coordinators.

B is a fifth-generation Nevadan who was raised by a father disabled in the Vietnam war and a mother who protested that war by hanging a giant “Give Peace a Chance” banner from their home in Reno –parents who many times bailed her out of jail for good trouble. Their first and second acts featured running social and environmental justice groups in Nevada, raising a daughter, and snaring a husband from Fallon. B’s third act centers on their grandchildren, the joy of organizing elders, and reimagining the gender binary and other unsatisfactory frameworks as a late-blooming trans activist.
