Join Third Act Nevada as we hear from our Secretary of State and Chair of the Democratic Association of Secretaries of State (DASS), Cisco Aguilar, about the integrity of the 2026 mid-term elections, any threats to that integrity and what we as elders can do to protect and defend our voting rights. Rebecca Solnit, renowned author and Third Act Advisory Board member, Bill McKibben, author and Third Act co-founder, and B Fulkerson, Third Act Organizing Director and local Nevadan, will join the discussion. We’ll also discuss the potential impact of Nevada’s voter initiative Question 7, which if passed will enshrine in the state constitution the requirement of a photo ID to vote in person and additional information to vote by mail.

Secretary of State Aguilar has worked hard to expand access to voting stations, especially in rural Nevada and on Tribal lands, has taken significant steps to make our elections more secure and has thoroughly investigated any claims of fraud. When President Trump and the Department of Homeland Security recently spread unprecedented lies about extensive election fraud, Secretary of State Aguilar responded quickly to reaffirm the integrity and security of Nevada’s elections.

Rebecca Solnit, Bill McKibben and B Fulkerson will join the discussion about this unprecedented attack on our voting rights.

Cisco Aguilar, Chair of the Democratic Association of Secretaries of State (DASS).

Secretary Aguilar served as general counsel for Agassi Graf Foundation for Education.  He  launched a sports technology startup, facilitating over $140 million in name, image, and likeness earnings for over 25,000 NCAA student-athletes since 2021. A graduate from the University of Arizona with a bachelor’s and masters degree in business administration and with a Juris Doctor.

Passionate about education, Secretary Aguilar is the founding chairman of Cristo Rey St. Viator High School, which provides an innovative workforce development program in one of Las Vegas’ most vulnerable neighborhoods.

Secretary Aguilar also served on the Nevada Athletic Commission regulating boxing and mixed martial arts for eight years, two of which he served as chairman. 

B Fulkerson (they/she), Third Act’s Organizing Director

B is a fifth-generation Nevadan who was raised by a father disabled in the Vietnam war and a mother who protested that war by hanging a giant “Give Peace a Chance” banner from their home in Reno –parents who many times bailed her out of jail for good trouble. Their first and second acts featured running social and  environmental justice groups in Nevada, raising a daughter, and snaring a husband from Fallon. B’s third act centers on their grandchildren, the joy of organizing elders, and reimagining the gender binary and other unsatisfactory frameworks as a late-blooming trans activist.

Rebecca Solnit is the author of more than 25 books, including Orwell’s Roses, Hope in the Dark, Men Explain Things to Me, A Paradise Built in Hell: The Extraordinary Communities that Arise in Disaster, and A Field Guide to Getting Lost. Bill McKibben, Author, Educator, Activist, founder of Third Act

Bill McKibben is a contributing writer to The New Yorker, and a founder of Third Act, which organizes people over the age of 60 to work on climate and racial justice. He founded the first global grassroots climate campaign, 350.org, and serves as the Schumann Distinguished Professor in Residence at Middlebury College in Vermont. In 2014 he was awarded the Right Livelihood Prize, sometimes called the ‘alternative Nobel,’ in the Swedish Parliament. He’s also won the Gandhi Peace Award, and honorary degrees from 19 colleges and universities. He has written more than twenty books about the environment, including his first, The End of Nature, published in 1989, The Flag, the Cross, and the Station Wagon: A Graying American Looks Back at his Suburban Boyhood and Wonders What the Hell Happened, and his latest book is Here Comes The Sun.
