Why we must act now

By some measures, 2024 will be the most important year of our lives. Third Actors are working to stem the tide of authoritarianism and to reduce fossil fuel consumption before the world faces irreversible damage. We’ll be fighting attempts to restrict voting rights and registering new voters to make sure that everyone’s voice is heard and their vote is counted.

Ways To Give

Online contributions through our website are NOT tax deductible to ensure the flexibility to build real grassroots power. There are many other options for giving, including for tax deductible donations.

You can make an online donation here. Ongoing gifts especially make a huge difference. Consider a monthly donation to help us plan ahead for powerful, culture-shifting work

Any online contributions are NOT tax deductible, but give Third Act greater flexibility to build real grassroots power.

For other ways s to give, including some that are tax deductible, check out the options below.

A qualified charitable distribution (QCD) is a distribution of funds from your IRA (other than a SEP or SIMPLE IRA) to a qualified charitable organization, such as Third Act.

Because the gift goes directly to the charity without passing through your hands, the dollar amount of the gift may be excluded from your taxable income up to a maximum of $100,000 annually, with some exceptions.

To learn more about QCDs, please visit IRS.gov or talk to your financial advisor.

Email donations@thirdact.org for important details about transferring these funds to Third Act.

Third Act can accept gifts of stock. Please send an email to donations@thirdact.org for instructions about how to begin a transfer.

We would be honored to work with you to create a lasting legacy in support of a just and sustainable future.

  • You can include us as a beneficiary in your will. A bequest is easy to arrange and is not payable until you pass away, so it does not affect assets or cash flow during your lifetime. It is also private and revocable, since you can change provisions in the will or trust at any time, and it is not made public until death.

  • Your can make a gift from your life insurance or retirement plan. Through a beneficiary designation form, you can make Third Act a full or partial beneficiary. Your estate may benefit from a tax deduction for the value of the proceeds from the policy. This can leave more behind for the loved ones you’ve named in your will. You can also sign over a fully-paid life insurance policy and receive a tax deduction now for that gift.

If you’re interested in or planning to make Third Act a beneficiary in your will or estate plans, please email pam@thirdact.org. We’d love to honor you by including your name among those in our Legacy Circle but do let us know if you’d prefer to keep your name anonymous. Your lawyer will need Third Act’s mailing address: Third Act Initiative, PO Box 445, Nassau, NY 12123

Third Act is a recognized partner of 1% for the Planet. If your business is interested in donating through that program, you can find us in their non-profit directory, or by writing directly to Pam Murphy at pam@thirdact.org.

You can use our online donation form to make your gift and follow up with an email to pam@thirdact.org with your name and the honoree’s name and email address, or that of a family member who you’d like to be notified of your gift.

The person will only be told the amount if it involves a group of gifts (ex. Five donations totaling $700 were received from these people (……) in honor of Jane Doe.)

Write to Pam at the email above with questions or special requests.
